Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club will again run a non-sanctioned smallbore rifle silhouette program for 2017. Matches are the first Saturday of the month, May-September. Registration opens at 8:30, practice begins at 9:00, and the match begins at 10:00. For those unfamiliar with the event, a match consists of 10 shots at each of 4 different types of targets: 10 chickens are shot at a distance of 40 meters, 10 pigs at 60 meters, 10 turkeys at 77 meters, and 10 rams at 100 meters. We will use the same range commands as in a sanctioned NRA silhouette match, and the targets are shot in groups of five with 2.5 minutes for each 5-shot string. This is a challenging yet fun match, so come out and give it a try. Rifles must be .22 LR only; no .17s allowed. We try to follow the NRA rules regarding the two rifle classes, but no one will be turned away because their rifle doesn’t quite fit the rules. For more information call John at 269-720-6851.
